Social structuralism is the idea that people operate within pre-established ways of thinking. Our perspectives are shaped by what we’ve been taught, shaped through circumstances, personal experiences, or repeated behaviors. These norms remain intact unless foundational shift reveals the greater context.

The critique that people are unable process things beyond their immediate lens of understanding is a harsh truth to bear. This idea remains constant in abstrct culture. Our responses are direct reflections of our personal ideals and can hinder our ability to see things as they are.

Shift/Question features a web-based interactive and research journal that juxtaposes digital engagement with current issues. People can gain a greater understanding of how social structures are formed within their context by analyzing how people process and respond to prevalent topics.
